Dr Tahnee Downs is a biomedical researcher whose PhD explored cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) in women diagnosed with breast cancer. Her research examined the impact of breast cancer and its treatments on cerebrovascular and cognitive function across the cancer continuum, including breast cancer patients undergoing active treatment and breast cancer survivors transitioning into and through survivorship. She also investigated the role of exercise as a potential strategy to reduce CRCI and improve cognitive outcomes. Working closely with breast cancer nurses, clinicians, and healthcare services across the Darling Downs region, Tahnee’s research has been grounded in the real-world experiences and priorities of patients and healthcare professionals. Her work is driven by a commitment to improving quality of survivorship, with a particular focus on identifying practical, evidence-based approaches that enhance cognitive health, wellbeing, and long-term quality of life for women affected by breast cancer.
